As the holidays wind down there is the task of removing & cleaning up our holiday decorations. Many have mixed emotions about how fast the holidays go by and we move on to the New Year with or without a plan on what to do with our homes.

Maybe you dislike these activities or you love to move furniture, redecorate or get a jump on spring-cleaning in the winter, either way you are in the right position to create a Green Home!

We are at a great transition time to switch not only your rooms around but also how you care for your home. We spend more time inside at this time of year it is a fact. Being in the enclosed areas we are exposed to more germs and the bigger threat more toxic off gases and chemicals. Why should we worry? If you body is worn down by the cold or illness you caught from the person in the next office, you plan to disinfect your house to avoid spreading the germs. Well the chemicals that you think are killing germs are also suppressing your immune system more. This could extend your cold or trigger another illness.

So defend yourself before the cycle even begins. As you start cleaning up from the holidays clean up your cleaning supplies first. Switch to non-toxic environmentally friendly cleaners. Many times they are super concentrated and will save you money, which can start your New Year off right. One brand even claims to save you over $3000.00 a year by switching brands. Now that is both saving your budget along with your health and earth, more bang for your buck. I love that!

What else can be done for a Green Home Makeover? Start recycling; even a small area can be converted into a recycling spot visit www.jodicook.com for creating your green home. Only 28% of the U.S. recycles. Companies that use these recycled materials to make new fibers; materials & products have to import other countries trash to meet the demand of the manufacturing. The U.S. could be the self-sustaining resource for this demand if we all just recycled.

Turn it off, opt out of the free printed materials, change a bulb, reduce your shower time by one minute and the list goes on. Seems like too much? Ok, start with a list of what you want to work toward. It is simple as this. If you don’t know where to start at all then visit www.jodicook.com and contact me with your questions.

Make a plan, save money and make a difference in your health, home or workplace and environment as you take action! Happy & Healthy New Year to you! Naturally, Jodi!
